On Friday 14th February 2020, whilst our pupils were tucked up in bed at the start of their Half-Term break, our staff were busy at work in Clement Hall and today was their chance to be learners at Isamilo.
The morning began with a session on Dyslexia led by Mr Evans. During this session we looked at research in to dyslexia, the effects dyslexia can have on learning, how dyslexia can present itself in learners and then how we can support learners who are facing some of these challenges. We saw a range of written research, visual infographics, audio stories and animated videos and our staff worked in teams to collate information on to a single A4 page.
During our second session of the day we split in to our Primary and Secondary departments and looked at our questioning skills and the types of questions that we ask our learners. We then looked at how the types of questions and the vocabulary our learners need to understand changes throughout the school. Our final task was to try and create a question flow all the way from Early Years up to A-Levels.
No matter how old we get, the opportunity to learn is a gift that should never be wasted.
