Although the fees at Isamilo are low compared to other international schools (only a third of the level of the largest two international schools in Tanzania) they represent a lot of money for ordinary people in Mwanza.
So that the school did not become the domain of just the business community, and to ensure that a good proportion of the school population was from the black African community, the school introduced a system of scholarships.
Overall the school allocated $140,000 to the scholarship fund. As a result over 100 children have reduced fees. Scholarships range from 10%, in the case of able students whose parents can only just cope with the level of fees, to 90% in the case of the children pastors.
The school has a special arrangement with other organisations, to act as a partnership in the education of disadvantaged children. In these cases the school waives 50% of the fees and sponsors provide the remaining 50%. There are currently 20 children enjoying education at Isamilo because of the scheme.
