Recently, there have been a number of changes to the Curriculum in the UK and in response to these our Key Stage 3 (Year 9) examinations have moved away from the traditional SATs to the CIE examination board’s Checkpoint exams. This also benefits students since these exams are designed to lead students more smoothly into GCSE and to provide more detailed feedback for each individual. The first year group to take Checkpoint will be our 2010 Year 9 group.
The last set of KS3 SATs results are given below. Results are given in levels. The larger the number the higher the level. At the age of 14 the standard expected of an average child in the UK is Level 5 (achieved by 66% of children in the UK in 2001).
Isamilo students have performed very well in these tests. The level achieved are as follows:

Students at Isamilo study for Cambridge Board IGCSE examinations (International General Certificate of Secondary Education). These qualifications are internationally recognised, at the same level as GCSE in UK or Tanzanian ‘O’ levels.
IGCSE examinations were taken by 30 Y11 students in a variety of subjects. The students have built on the fantastic results of 2007 and we have made some outstanding acievements. With 37% obtaining at least 5 grade A or A* (internationally recognised as a measure of excellence) and 70% gaining at least one A grade, we believe that the students have once again shown how Isamilo International School is a centre of excellence.
We are particularly proud of Krisztina Chogo, who gained the highest Literature and History scores in Tanzania, and Rishit Radia, who gained the highest Economics score. They were presented with a special award by the British High Commissioner at a ceremony in Dar-Es-Salaam. Congratulations to them both.
The school appreciates the hard work of the teachers and their pupils and is very proud of their achievement.
