Our experienced staff know what works in a boarding environment. Here at Isamilo International School we have two excellent couples who help to create the homely atmosphere in each hostel that is missing from so many other boarding facilities. Our aim is to create small ‘family’ units of twenty in each hostel with the older students taking on leadership responsibility for the younger children, much like older brothers and sisters do in a conventional family.
The two properties provide high quality boarding hostels. One is a short walk from school and can house around twenty boys. The other, in Bwiru, is more suitable for girls since it offers en-suite bathrooms, and requires a bus to take the students to and from school. Both compounds are fully enclosed and security is provided by a reputable guarding company.
The hostels are comfortably furnished with on average two students per room. There is a common room facility where students can relax and watch television together. All meals at weekends are provided at the hostel along with breakfast and supper during the week. Students are registered with a local health clinic and the matron takes sick students to the clinic as well as contacting parents or guardians.
Each boarding house is run by a trained and qualified teacher and their spouse. A matron also lives on site and oversees the day to day practicalities of hygiene, laundry, health and cleanliness. Other staff also ensure that meals are prepared, clothes are washed and that the place is kept clean and tidy. Together this team makes a homely, safe and caring environment in which the individuals needs of each child are well catered for.
Please register your interest by contacting the school office AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as places are limited. We will then send more details about how boarding works and a boarding application form. If you would prefer to discuss the boarding option in more detail then please make an appointment to call into school using the contact details on this site.
